Everything you need to know before joining
The Cruise School on Artificial Intelligence for Technological & Social Change will take place 22–29 January 2027, combining an international academic programme with a one-week Mediterranean cruise.

Dates & Eligibility
22–29 January 2027 · 8 days / 7 nights
The Cruise School is open to participants from different academic and professional backgrounds, including:
- PhD candidates at any stage of their doctoral programme;
- Master’s students;
- researchers and postdoctoral fellows;
- university professors and staff;
- professionals, managers and industry experts.
Participants from STEM, social sciences and humanities are welcome. No specific disciplinary background is required.
Participation Fees
Participation fees depend on the selected cabin category and occupancy.

Early Bird deadline: 30 September 2026
For 42nd-cycle PhD candidates, the Early Bird deadline is extended to 30 November 2026.
After the Early Bird deadline, Late fees apply.
What’s Included
The participation fee includes:
- participation in the academic programme;
- lectures and workshops;
- interdisciplinary and applied activities;
- business game activities;
- group Studio Project;
- Final Academic Showcase;
- participation in the Mediterranean cruise according to the selected cabin category.
Any additional personal expenses or services not expressly included in the programme are excluded.
Erasmus+ & Funding Opportunities
Participants may be eligible for Erasmus+ or other mobility funding through their home university or institution.
Eligibility, reimbursement amounts and procedures depend on the regulations of each institution. Participants interested in funding are therefore encouraged to contact their university’s international mobility or Erasmus+ office.
ECTS & Certification
Participants who successfully complete the Cruise School activities may obtain 7 ECTS/CFU, subject to recognition by their home institution or academic programme.
A Certificate of Participation will also be issued upon completion of the programme.
Participants who need formal recognition of credits should check the applicable procedures with their university or doctoral programme.
What You Need
Participants should bring a personal laptop, as some sessions and project activities may involve digital tools and data analysis.
Python and/or R may be used during selected activities, but advanced programming skills are not required.
Further organisational information will be provided to registered participants before departure.
